Ride Pleasant Streets - 1st Saturday Short Edition

Please note the new fall/winter start time! Join us on Saturday, Nov 4 @ 2:00 PM as we explore low-stress connectors between Pleasant Ridge and several of our nearby dining, retail, and recreational areas. We will also head up into Dillonvale to enjoy some fun rollers! PLEASE PRE-REGISTER HERE (25 riders max) after reading the event details. Note: Pre-registration helps us with safe and smooth ride management, so please do this if you can. However, don’t avoid coming just because your schedule had been uncertain. You can also register on-site—just be extra sure to arrive 10-15 minutes early. Route preview: RPS_047 - Sat Short - Low-stress Connectors & Rollers As an added bonus of Queen City Bike’s sponsorship of this event, you can navigate this route for free on the Ride with GPS app at any time—both during the event and after! ———— Departure Time: 2:00pm - Please plan to arrive early so we can all leave in a punctual fashion - We will meet in front of Community Happens Here - Ride leaders will be there by 1:45pm to answer any questions Distance: XX miles Difficulty: - Mid-level Beginners and above - All riders should be comfortable with basic bike-handling and traffic skills - Route is not suitable for young children, but may be a good match for proficient teenagers (per discretion of parents) - We will regroup as needed throughout the ride Terrain: Predominantly flat to rolling. Climbs (steeper than +4% grade): There are no major climbs on this route. The steepest uphill section (3.1% grade) is part of the roller on Wicklow Avenue. "Roller" means you get to blast downhill and build speed that helps carry you up the following climb! Descents (steeper than neg 4% grade): There are no major descents on this route. There are two moderate and fun downhills: the descent into the roller on Wicklow Ave (neg ~3.5% grade); and the sweep down Montgomery Road (neg ~2.5% grade) as we come back into Pleasant Ridge. Traffic stress: - ~85% of this ride will be on low-traffic streets Higher-stress areas: - The busiest area will be riding between Pleasant Ridge and Silverton. Except for ~2 blocks, all of this stretch will be in the bike lane. - We will be there to share traffic tips and help you feel comfortable Post-ride: - Let’s gather at Nine Giant after the ride! - We should be done with the ride by about 4:00pm. ———— Safety Notes: - Helmets required - Bike must be in good working condition. Parking: - Community Happens Here asks that if at all possible, we do NOT use their parking lot during our events. - Abundant FREE parking is located at the Pleasant Ridge Community Parking Lot, behind the Walgreens at 6204 Montgomery Road.
