Ride Pleasant Streets - 1st Saturday Short Edition

7:00PM, Saturday March 2nd - Add to Calendar
Community Happens Here, 6238 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45213, USA
Join us on Saturday, Mar 2 as we swing by MadTree to check out the CORA Expo! This is an incredible annual event put on by our friends at the Cincinnati Off-Road Alliance. There will be bikes, bikes, bikes; vendors; raffles; resources; and loads of awesome bike folks! Free admission and open until 3pm. After our stop at the CORA Expo, we'll either backtrack to PR via our outbound route, or we'll enjoy a longer loop that takes us to quiet streets on the west side of Madisonville and back home via the climb up Red Bank Road. To help us with planning and quick check-ins, please PRE-REGISTER HERE 🙌 You can also register on-site if preferred. By taking a few moments to register, you enable Queen City Bike to provide you with $10K of supplemental medical insurance for extra peace of mind. ———— Route preview: RPS_055 - Sat Short - CORA Expo at MadTree As an added bonus of Queen City Bike’s sponsorship of this event, you can navigate this route for free on the Ride with GPS app at any time—both during the event and after! ———— Departure Time: 2:00pm - Please plan to arrive early so we can all leave in a punctual fashion - We will meet in front of Community Happens Here - Ride leaders will be there by 1:45pm to answer any questions Distance: 13.7 miles Difficulty: - Mid-level Beginners and above - All riders should be comfortable with basic bike-handling and traffic skills - Route is not suitable for young children, but may be a good match for proficient teenagers (per discretion of parents) - We will regroup as needed throughout the ride Terrain: Mostly rolling with a couple longer hills. The climbs are manageable, but also a bit more challenging than most of our short routes Climbs (steeper than +4% grade): - Charlemar Dr (~0.3 mi; max ~5% grade) - Red Bank Rd (~0.5 mi; max ~7% grade) Descents (steeper than neg 4% grade): - Lester Road (~1.2 mi; max neg 4-5% grade) Traffic stress: - ~80% of this ride will be on low-traffic streets and multi-use paths Higher-stress areas: - The busiest area will be riding through the center of Pleasant Ridge (on Montgomery). The multiple traffic lights, the lower traffic volume on weekends, and our presence as a group will all help to reduce the stress in this section. - The second busiest area will be around MadTree and Madison/Brotherton Roads. We will be in these busy areas for short stretches and with no uphill climbs or left turns across traffic. - We will be there to share traffic tips and help you feel comfortable Post-ride: - Let’s gather at Nine Giant after the ride! - Allowing extra time for the CORA Expo stop, we should be back by about 5:00pm. ———— Safety Notes: - Helmets required - Bike must be in good working condition. Please contact me if you have any questions! Weather Notes: - In the event of adverse weather, I will post an update on the day of the ride—at or before 1pm - Updates will be shared on the Facebook event page, and also via the Ride Pleasant Streets Google Group - No message means the ride is still on! Parking: - Community Happens Here asks that if at all possible, we do NOT use their parking lot during our events. - Abundant FREE parking is located at the Pleasant Ridge Community Parking Lot, behind the Walgreens at 6204 Montgomery Road. This is ONE block from Community Happens Here. ———— Queen City Bike is grateful to Pleasant Streets and Community Happens Here for helping to make this bike event possible.
