Ride Pleasant Streets - 3rd Saturday Long Edition

6:00PM, Saturday May 18th - Add to Calendar
Community Happens Here, 6238 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45213, USA
Join us on Saturday, May 18 @ 2:00 PM as we pedal north to Summit Park—the beautifully reimagined site of the former Blue Ash Airport! This route will also introduce you to two key connection points across Ronald Reagan Highway, including a "secret" pedestrian bridge. 🕵️ To experience this route in a new way, we are going to go "backwards" from our usual direction. I've recently ridden a couple times with this variation, and it feels good to get the big climbs out of the way early! Altogether very pleasant. 🚲😁 To help us with planning and quick check-ins, please PRE-REGISTER HERE 🙌 You can also register on-site if preferred. The ride is FREE! At Queen City Bike, it is a core value to foster a caring community. Your registration enables us to reach you and your important people if needed, and also provide you with $10K of supplemental medical insurance. We've got you covered so you can focus on the bike joy! ———— Route preview: RPS_060 - Sat Long - Summit Park As an added bonus of Queen City Bike’s sponsorship of this event, you can navigate this route for free on the Ride with GPS app at any time—both during the event and after! ———— Departure Time: 2:00pm - Please plan to arrive early so we can all leave in a punctual fashion - We will meet in front of Community Happens Here - Ride leaders will be there by 1:45pm to answer any questions Distance: 18 miles Difficulty: - Advanced Beginner and above - All riders should be comfortable with basic bike-handling and traffic skills - We will regroup as needed throughout the ride Terrain: Mostly rolling with a couple bigger hills in the range of 5-7% grade Climbs (longer than 0.5 mi and steeper than +4% grade): - Waxwing Drive between Hunt and Lobelia (~0.5 mi; max 5% grade) - Cooper Road (on multi-use path) + part of Carpenter Run (~0.6 mi; max 5% grade) Descents (longer than 0.5 mi and steeper than neg 4% grade): - Waxwing Drive between Eldora and Hunt (~0.3 mi; max neg 7% grade) Traffic stress: - ~90% of this ride will be on low-traffic streets and multi-use paths Higher-stress areas: - The busiest area will be riding between Pleasant Ridge and Silverton on Montgomery Road on our way out, and through the center of Pleasant Ridge on our way to the finish at Nine Giant.
