111 W 11th St
Covington, KY, United States
Did you know there's a way to get from one side of 12th St./MLK to the other without setting foot, or tire, on 12th Street itself? Well there is! It's called Chesapeake Street (even though it looks like an alley), and Ride the Cov is working to have it permanently designated as an official bike route, safely connecting the neighborhoods on either side of the road.
Want to see what that would look like? Come check it out on Saturday, October 9th, from 10am to 2pm, and bring your bike that could use some love. We're partnering with Queen City Bike, Tri-State Trails, MoBo Bike Co-op, and Red Bike to hold a pop-up bike shop at the same time. We'll be offering minor repairs to whatever bike you've got, and talking all about our shared vision for bike specific infrastructure all over our region.
If you're saying, "This all sounds great, but just where is Chesapeake Street and where is this event?" Well those are great questions. We will be on West 11th Street, between Russell St. and the new pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks on West 11th.
Chesapeake Street runs between W 11th St. and W 13th St. beneath 12th Street where it bridges up and over the railroad tracks. We'll be using temporary signage and pavement markings to demonstrate what a permanent, designated route could look like. As you approach 12th from either the north or south, on Russell, Banklick, or Holman Streets, look out for the temporary signs directing you to Chesapeake Street and our tents.
We hope to see you there!
