Ride Pleasant Streets - Saturday Short Edition

Join us on Saturday, July 1 @ 3:00 PM as we explore the connectivity between Pleasant Ridge and five of our beautiful neighborhood parks. This is a favorite route in our collection! Special thanks to our friend Hugh Walsh for volunteering as ride leader for this event. Hugh has logged countless miles all over the globe and is a trusted and experienced guide. *** Air quality will be improving around Cincinnati by Saturday, but particulates from the wildfire will still be lingering above normal levels. People with sensitive lungs or other health conditions should check the day-of AQI and decide whatever is best for their own situation. *** PLEASE PRE-REGISTER HERE (25 riders max) after reading the event details. ———— Route preview: RPS_039 - Sat Short - Parks & Rec Quintet As an added bonus of Queen City Bike’s sponsorship of this event, you can navigate this route for free on the Ride with GPS app at any time—both during the event and after! ———— Departure Time: 3:00pm - Please plan to arrive early so we can all leave in a punctual fashion - We will meet in front of Community Happens Here - Ride leaders will be there by 2:45pm to answer any questions Distance: 12.1 miles Difficulty: - Mid-level Beginners and above - All riders should be comfortable with basic bike-handling and traffic skills - Route is not suitable for young children, but may be a good match for proficient teenagers (per discretion of parents) - We will regroup as needed throughout the ride Terrain: - Predominantly flat to rolling Climbs (steeper than +4% grade): - There are no climbs over 4% on this route… a rarity for Pleasant Ridge! The steepest uphill section is about a 3.5% grade. Descents (steeper than neg 4% grade): - There are no descents over 4%… another rarity for Pleasant Ridge! This is a very friendly route for people who are still getting used to hills. Traffic stress: - ~95% of this ride will be on low-traffic streets Higher-stress areas: - The busiest area will be riding between Pleasant Ridge and Silverton on Montgomery Road. Except for ~3 blocks, all of this stretch will be in the bike lane. - We will also have ~1 block on Woodford Road, and <1/2 block on Section Road. Post-ride: - Spontaneous post-ride plans are welcome! - We should be done with the ride by about 5:00pm. ———— Safety Notes: - Helmets required - Bike must be in good working condition.
