Ride Pleasant Streets - 1st Saturday Short Edition

6:00PM, Saturday May 4th - Add to Calendar
Community Happens Here, 6238 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45213, USA
Join us on Saturday, May 4 @ 2:00 PM as we saddle up for Wyoming! We will also venture a bit further north to sample a portion of the West Fork Mill Creek Greenway Trail, which may ultimately form part of the potential future Mill Creek Triangle Trail. The distance of this ride stretches our "Short Edition" definition a little bit. However, other than the final climb into Pleasant Ridge, this route is very flat and the miles will go by easily. Most importantly for our timing with this ride, the feasibility study for the Mill Creek Triangle Trail is in an key phase of gathering public input. I'd really like for you all to have a chance to get a taste of how enjoyable it is to pedal along the Mill Creek and to start to build a picture of what this trail system can become. Read more about the Triangle Trail here, and take the survey after the ride! To help us with planning and quick check-ins, please PRE-REGISTER HERE 🙌 You can also register on-site if preferred. The ride is FREE! At Queen City Bike, creating a caring community is a core value. Your registration enables us to reach you and your important people if needed, and also provide you with $10K of supplemental medical insurance. We've got you covered so you can focus on the bike joy! ———— Route preview: RPS_059 - Sat Short - Wyoming & Triangle Trail As an added bonus of Queen City Bike’s sponsorship of this event, you can navigate this route for free on the Ride with GPS app at any time—both during the event and after! ———— Departure Time: 2:00pm - Please plan to arrive early so we can all leave in a punctual fashion - We will meet in front of Community Happens Here - Ride leaders will be there by 1:45pm to answer any questions Distance: 16.3 miles Difficulty: - Mid-level Beginners and above - All riders should be comfortable with basic bike-handling and traffic skills - Route is not suitable for young children, but may be a good match for proficient teenagers (per discretion of parents) - We will regroup as needed throughout the ride Terrain: - Predominantly flat to rolling Climbs (steeper than +4% grade): - Tulane and Montgomery Road as we head back to Pleasant Ridge (~0.5 mi; max ~4.5-5% grade) Descents (steeper than neg 4% grade): - There are no major descents on this route. Traffic stress: - ~90% of this ride will be on low-traffic streets Higher-stress areas: - The busiest area will be riding through the center of Pleasant Ridge (on Montgomery). The multiple traffic lights, the lower traffic volume on weekends, and our presence as a group will all help to reduce the stress in this section. - The second potentially stressful area is the section of Losantiville between Wiehe Rd and Reading Rd. We will group up through here and take the lane. - We will be there to share traffic tips and help you feel comfortable Post-ride: - Let’s gather at Nine Giant after the ride! - We should be done with the ride by about 4:00pm. ———— Safety Notes: - Helmets required - Bike must be in good working condition. Please contact me if you have any questions! Weather Notes: - In the event of adverse weather, I will post an update on the day of the ride—at or before 1pm - Updates will be shared on the Facebook event page, and also via the Ride Pleasant Streets Google Group - No message means the ride is still on!
