Mill Creek Greenway Connection (Elmore Court Gap)

Come help build momentum for a new trail connection along the Mill Creek!

Background
The Mill Creek Greenway has long been a great public amenity for the community, serving as a means of recreation as well as a transportation option for those walking, biking and using accessibility/mobility devices. Like many of Cincinnati's multi use paths, it has seen its fair share of challenges. We are focusing on the small section in the southern part of Northside behind the building currently occupied by Deuss Enterprises. During design, it was decided to route the trail onto the sidewalk in front of the building, past the parking lot and right turn slip lane to the other side of the building where paved trail resumes behind a used auto lot. This disconnection results in the the remainder of this trail being unmaintained and underutilized, if users are even aware of it at all. During the I 74 ramp reconstruction, this section was cordoned off entirely, leaving it to become overgrown and practically unusable.

Our Plan
This area, including the back section of Deuss's fenced in lot is primarily owned by the Mill Creek Conservancy District, a government org. that has recently been getting back up and running. Thus, much of the fenced in area is actually an encroachment on MVCD property. After discussions with the new director, the MVCD Board has voted to allow volunteers on their property behind the Deuss fence for purposes of creating a usable walking/rolling path to provide a safer connection in the short term. The overarching goal is for MVCD to seek legal counsel to have the Deuss fence relocated, allowing more space (it's pretty tight back against the berm) for a fully paved seamless connection. We will be cutting back brush, weeds, honeysuckle, moving rocks, and removing trash to make this area passable in the meantime.

Get Involved
If you're interested in improving this area of the Greenway, please contact myself (David Roland) at pedestriansafety@northsidecouncil.com. We will meet on Elmore Court next to Deuss and KBS Auto Sales on September 5, 2026 at 10am and work until 1pm.
