WTFNB Open Shop (Women, Trans, Femme, Non-Binary) at MoBo
Our fifth (!) WTFNB open shop at MoBo is scheduled for Thursday, 7/30 from 6-9PM.
Open Shop is a time for you to use MoBo’s bike shop space to learn & work on your own bike. MoBo typically hosts these every Sunday from 11am-5pm for adults (and Mondays 5-8pm for kids).
The 30th will be reserved specifically for the WTFNB community (women, trans, femme, non-binary)—and we’ll be there to help you! If you’d like to learn basic skills but don’t have a bike or don’t need yours tuned up, come anyway and we’ll fix you up with a kid’s bike or pair you with someone else.
When should I show up?
We’ll help folks on a first-come, first-serve basis. No RSVP needed. There are five bike stands and three trained volunteer mechanics. Mechanics will help guide and teach you, but not do the work for you! Usually 10-20 people show up. We’ll open doors at 6PM.
What should I bring?
- Your own bike if you have one and need it tuned up or have specific questions about its functionality/mechanics
- A water bottle and snack
- Gloves if you prefer to use them
All of this is optional! Just bring yourself if you want and come learn with us.
MoBo has most of the tools necessary to work on basic bike repairs and tune-ups. We are all volunteers and will do our best to show you how to get your bike safely up and running but may not have the time to work on every problem. If your bike needs more substantial work, we will help diagnose, but will refer you to a local shop for repair.
Location: MoBo Bicycle Co-Op, 1415 Knowlton St, Cincinnati, OH 45223
Parking: Street and bike parking available
Transit: Accessible by Metro routes/From downtown, Metro Buses #16, #17, #19, #20, and #27 stop conveniently close to the co-op.
Who can come to this?
This Open Shop is specifically for people who identify as women, trans, femme, and non-binary. Please respect the integrity of this space and refer to MoBo’s website for workshops and opportunities for other community members. You do not need to have attended the Intro workshop to stop by open shop.
We strongly encourage you to become an annual MoBo member before you attend (fill out this form!). This costs $20 or 2 hours of volunteering. And don’t forget to join our WTFNB Discord channel for more regular updates and future open shop & workshop dates.
