Join us on Saturday, Feb 3 for a visit to St Bernard! We'll enjoy sights in the neighborhood, cruise through part of the business district, and stop at a couple historic points of interest. On our way to St Bernard, we'll also enjoy a beautiful and fun descent through North Avondale.

This route will take advantage of improved multi-use paths on the Xavier campus, and introduce you to another "secret" bike connector that minimizes exposure to traffic on Reading Road.

Departure Time: 2:00pm
- Please plan to arrive early so we can all leave in a punctual fashion
- We will meet in front of Community Happens Here
- Ride leaders will be there by 1:45pm to answer any questions

Distance: 12.5 miles

Difficulty:
- Mid-level Beginners and above
- All riders should be comfortable with basic bike-handling and traffic skills
- Route is not suitable for young children, but may be a good match for proficient teenagers (per discretion of parents)
- We will regroup as needed throughout the ride

Terrain:
Mostly rolling with a couple longer hills. The climbs are manageable, but also a bit more challenging than most of our short routes.

Climbs (steeper than +4% grade):
- Dana to Marion Ave (~0.5 mi; max 5% grade)
- Montgomery Road as we head back to Pleasant Ridge (~0.6 mi; max ~4.5-5% grade).

Descents (steeper than neg 4% grade):
- Lester Road (~1.2 mi; max neg 4-5% grade) as we head out of Pleasant Ridge
- Dana Ave (~0.3 mi; max neg 4.5% grade) - On the multi-use path
- Rose Hill Ave (~0.3 mi; max neg 7% grade) - Yeehaw!

Traffic stress:
- ~80% of this ride will be on low-traffic streets and multi-use paths

Higher-stress areas:
- The busiest area will be riding through the center of Pleasant Ridge (on Montgomery). The multiple traffic lights, the lower traffic volume on weekends, and our presence as a group will all help to reduce the stress in this section.
- The second busiest area will be along Tennessee/Ross Ave as we head back toward Pleasant Ridge. We are riding in a direction that provides good downhill speed and/or two lanes in most of the busier sections.
- We will be there to share traffic tips and help you feel comfortable

Post-ride:
- Let’s gather at <a href="https://www.ninegiant.com/brewpub" target="_blank">Nine Giant</a> after the ride!
- We should be done with the ride by about 4:00pm.

An inclusive group ride for folks and bikes of all kinds! We'll roll around the urban basin with routes that focus on calm streets, local knowledge, and building confident ridership.
8-12mph avg, conversational pace, less than 20 miles, never too much climbing. No drop, very supportive, refreshments at Wooden Cask Brewery afterward. Meet at Trailhead Coffee inside Reser Bicycle. Parking is available at the National Band and Tag lot on Seventh or Wooden Cask Brewery on York. Roll out at 6:15pm, please arrive a little early. Every Monday is Kids Day at MoBo Bicycle Co-op in Northside! Kids can come learn to fix their bikes and enjoy bike-related programming all year long. Each participant will receive a free used bike and learn how to fix and maintain it! This event is geared towards people aged 5-16.

The first half of this ride is gently rolling. The second half includes a fast descent down Section Road, then some climbing as we make our way back to the Ridge. 

Climbs (steeper than +4% grade):
- East Beechlands Drive to Ridge (~0.6 mi; max ~5.5% grade)
- Fairway Drive followed by a brief portion on Montgomery (~0.2 mi; max ~4.5% grade)

Descents (steeper than neg 4% grade):
- Section Road (~0.8 mi; max neg 7% grade)
- Vera Avenue (~0.2 mi; max neg 4% grade)

Traffic stress:
- ~90% of this ride will be on low-traffic streets and multi-use paths

Higher-stress areas:
- The busiest area will be riding through the center of Pleasant Ridge (on Montgomery). The multiple traffic lights, the lower traffic volume on weekends, and our presence as a group will all help to reduce the stress in this section.
- The second busiest area will be riding west down Section Road toward French Park. The majority of this stretch we will be going downhill and carrying good speed. Guidance on grouping and lane positioning will be provided just before we turn onto this street.
