We'll roll around the urban basin with routes that focus on calm streets, local knowledge, and building confident ridership. 8-12mph avg, conversational pace, less than 20 miles, never too much climbing. No drop, very supportive, refreshments at Wooden Cask Brewery afterward. Meet at Trailhead Coffee inside Reser Bicycle. Parking is available at the National Band and Tag lot on Seventh or Wooden Cask Brewery on York. Meet at 2:00pm; roll out at 2:15pm, please arrive a little early. Every Monday is Kids Day at MoBo Bicycle Co-op in Northside! Kids can come learn to fix their bikes and enjoy bike-related programming all year long. Each participant will receive a free used bike and learn how to fix and maintain it! This event is geared towards people aged 5-16.

Our gathering time is 2:30 on December 14th and from MainStrasse we'll be heading to Wooden Cask Brewery in Newport to join the Bright Ride (along with the associated giving in that event).

We all know that we can ride bikes all year long and we're ready to do so. It was so much fun April through October we thought, why not continue this! We're doing rides November - March now and we'll resume Wednesday Rides in April.

Who: You and whoever you invite? It's better to ride together.
We’ll have people there a lil' early to do a quick safety check and pump up tires. You can always rent a Red Bike to participate too.

- Helmets strongly suggested
- We’ll be riding in a group—not experienced in this, no problem. Just follow directions that we’ll share before the ride.
- Parking (paid) is available in the MainStrasse Village Parking lot.
- Free Parking is available under the Clay Wade Bailey Bridge or in Theatre House’s Parking Lot.

disCOVeRIDE! - Holiday Bright ride edition!

Join Queen City Bike and the Cincinnati Cycle Club for the annual Holiday Bright Ride, including a memorial and celebration of Frank Henson, who recently lost his battle with cancer. In keeping with Frank's Bicycle Santa spirit, the ride includes a toy drive for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. 

Frank would want us all to shine bright around town just like Bicycle Santa always did. 
So light up your bikes, come dressed with all your holiday spirit and ride the Cincy streets that Frank Henson so passionately advocated for.

Extend the holiday cheer by bringing a toy with you to the ride for donation to Cincinnati Children's Hospital! To help you choose a toy, please take a look at the guidelines for the <a href="https://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/giving/gifts/items/toystarget="_blank">types of toys they can accept</a>. All toys must be new in the package.

This ride is appropriate for any type of cyclist. The ride will be parade-style, where we ride at a casual rate (less than 10MPH) through the city as a group. We will be stopping at some of Frank’s favorite locations to take group pictures.

As many know, Frank was a beloved fixture in the Cincinnati Cycling Community, and beyond. He was the past president of Queen City Bike, where he promoted cycling in our region and successfully advocated for bike infrastructure in the city, including the addition of the bike lanes that cyclists enjoy today. He was part of the team that brought Red Bike to the city. He was the glue that connected all the bike organizations, clubs, and cycling-friendly businesses in the city. Frank was also a major face of Christmas, best known as Bicycle Santa. 

Our hearts and hugs go out to all of Frank’s loved ones.

Departure Time: 2:00pm
- Please plan to arrive early so we can all leave in a punctual fashion
- We will meet in front of Community Happens Here
- Ride leaders will be there by 1:45pm to answer any questions

Distance: 18.4 miles

Difficulty:
- Advanced Beginner and above
- All riders should be comfortable with basic bike-handling and traffic skills
- We will regroup as needed throughout the ride

Terrain:
- Predominantly flat to rolling, with two notable climbs and one long descent.

Climbs (steeper than +4% grade):
- The fun serpentine where the Wasson Way trailhead winds west into Ault Park (~0.2 mi; max 4% grade)
- Lester Avenue (~1 mi; max 4-5% grade). On our way back to Pleasant Ridge.

Descents (steeper than neg 4% grade):
- Stewart Avenue (~1mi; max neg 5% grade)—as we head out of Pleasant Ridge

Traffic stress:
- ~95% of this ride will be on low-traffic streets and multi-use paths

Higher-stress areas:
- The busiest area will be riding through the center of Pleasant Ridge (on Montgomery). The multiple traffic lights, the lower traffic volume on weekends, and our presence as a group will all help to reduce the stress in this section.
- The lower section of Stewart Road (south of the Mini dealership) has a one long curve where drivers sometimes get impatient. Good alertness and group communication will counteract this.
- We will be there to share traffic tips and help you feel comfortable

Post-ride:
- Let’s gather at <a href="https://www.ninegiant.com/brewpub" target="_blank">Nine Giant</a> after the ride!
- We should be done with the ride by about 5:00pm.
